Understanding Autologous Skin Rejuvenation

What is Autologous conditioned Plasma?

Autologous conditioned plasma is a concentrated version of blood that is rich in healing and growth factors. This can be administered into the patient’s injured tissue to decrease pain and heal certain injuries. Autologous Skin Rejuvenation is advanced in nature and has precedent to prove that it works effectively to tone, tighten and refresh the skin by rejuvenating the skin (its elasticity/quality/colour).

The treatment makes use of your body's restoring properties to instigate a local stem cell response which enables your body to build new collagen, blood vessels and elastin. The process aids in the regenerating and repairing of damaged skin with hardly any downtime, giving you a new and fresh look.

It involves spinning a patient’s blood at a high speed in a specialized centrifuge, which results in the concentration and separation of the blood component. The highly concentrated proteins are then administered into the injured tendons and muscles. This, in turn, releases numerous growth factors which aid the regeneration of tissue and help in the repair of the injured tendon and muscle.

In typical cases, 1-3 sessions (rarely more) may be required, separated by a 4-6 weeks period, depending on your injury and response.

Treatments for which we offer Autologous Skin Rejuvenation

● Non-Surgical Facelift

● Non-Surgical Breast Lift

● Hair Loss

● Skin rejuvenation

● Acute Injuries

● Tendon Injuries

● Chronic Wounds

How does it work?

The first step would be for our trained professionals to draw the patient’s blood and place it in a specialised centrifuge device. This device allows for the extraction of the most nutrient-rich properties, which is then administered back into the skin or area of concern. The nutrient-rich properties release important growth factors, which sends signals to other cells on what work needs to be done (e.g. form new collagen) and treate the concerns. Treatment releases a large number of growth factors at the site of injury by inducing an inflammatory response to initiate healing. This treatment can restore tendons and ligamentous proteins as well as making firmer and more resilient cartilage. The number of treatments depends on the amount or area and the results the patient wishes to achieve, but we normally recommend three to six treatments in four to six weekly intervals.

If treating hair loss, it is important to remember that this treatment is not a “quick fix” and is simply an element of a comprehensive hair rejuvenation program. A patient's progress is dependent on their age, health and the condition of their skin, which the consultant will give you further information about at your appointment.

Is the treatment painful?

Patients usually tolerate the treatment well. However, there can be soreness after the treatment due to the induced inflammatory response.

Non - Surgical Face Lift

● Non-surgical face lift is a non-invasive procedure, only needs topical anaesthesia.

● Must be conducted by a trained medical professional.

● Side effects may be burning, itching, or swelling

● The procedure duration is about 1 to 2 hours and should have very little downtime.

● If the redness is not inconvenient for you, feel free to go back to work the following day

You should see improved skin texture and glow which lasts for a year, and should be visible in 2 to 3 weeks

The procedure may:

● diminish wrinkles

● plump skin

● decrease acne scars

● brighten dull skin

Patients of any age are eligible for this treatment.

However, if you’re taking a blood thinner, have skin cancer, or any other blood related medical condition, such as HIV or hepatitis C, a non-surgical face lift is not suitable.

Non - Surgical Breast Lift

Unlike a traditional breast lift that relies on incisions, a non-surgical breast lift is minimul invasive to create a somewhat fuller, firmer bust.

Who can get this procedure?

The procedure may be right for you if you’re looking for a slight lift similar to what a pushup bra can provide and prefer a less-invasive approach to augmentation. However, setting expectations is key.

A Non-Surgical Breast Lift will Not:

● add a cup size to your bust

● create a new breast shape

● eliminate sagging

A Non-Surgical Breast lift may:

● create the appearance of fuller, firmer breasts

● minimize the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks

● improve blood circulation

You may not be eligible for this procedure if you:

● have a history of breast cancer or predisposition to breast cancer

● are pregnant or breastfeeding

Hair Loss Treatment

Protein filled Plasma is an effective treatment for pattern baldness in both males and females as the protein present in the plasma helps strengthen the hair follicles. Moreover, treatment help in triggering natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. You would expect three treatments at least, 4–6 weeks apart with an additional maintenance treatment that is required every 4–6 months.

Other Uses of the Treatment

Skin rejuvenation – Improve skin tone, texture and colour

Acute Injuries – can be used to treat acute sports injuries (knee sprains, pulled hamstring muscles, etc.) Similarly, tendon injuries such as tennis elbow, pain in the patellar tendon in the knee or jumper’s knee can be treated.

Chronic Wounds

A chronic wound is an injury that does not heal in the expected stages and in the average amount of time that most wounds do; wounds that do not heal within three months are often considered chronic. Protein filled plasma is a modern treatment strategy with worldwide recognition. Platelets have two crucial roles: hemostasis and initiation of wound healing. After platelet activation and clot formation, Growth Factors (GFs) are released from α-granules located in the thrombocyte cell membrane. GFs operate as biologic mediators to promote cellular activity by binding to specific cell surface receptors resulting in improved healing.

The power of growth factors

Growth factors and stem cells promote cellular turnover and collagen production growth, which is the foundation of radiant, youthful glowing skin. They also:

  • Stimulate collagen formation

  • Form new blood vessels

  • Reorganise cells and skin tissue

These effects result in improved skin colour, tone and texture, as well as a softened appearance of wrinkles and smoothed lines. In addition to these benefits, the area of the skin treated will have improved hydration, helping to keep the skin soft, healthy and vibrant. These benefits are a result of GFs, which control the body’s injury healing mechanism. When GFs are stimulated by this treatment, it also improves the appearance of ageing-related skin damage; including wrinkles, scarring and fine lines.
